There is a question that may have filled the imagination of many children and teenagers in 2001: who won the final race in Velocity Furiosa? There are those who haven't slept well since then.
Fortunately, Craig Lieberman, technical director of the first two films in the Furious Speed saga, decided to give us the answer. Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) or Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker)? Toyota Supra or Dodge Charger?
Craig Lieberman (in the featured video) advances three different scenarios for the outcome of one of the most mythical illegal races in movie history.
First scenario. If I were serious…
Let's imagine that race was for real. On one side we have a 1970 Dodge Charger, on the other we have a Toyota Supra.
In the script, the engine that equipped the Toretto Dodge Charger was a Hemi V8 526 with 8.6 liters of displacement, fueled by alcohol, with a volumetric compressor, for a total of 900 hp of power.
Brian O'Conner's Toyota Supra used a 2JZ inline six engine, equipped with a T66 turbo. According to Craig Lieberman, at best, the Supra's maximum power would be 800 hp already with the help of nitro.
As for weight, the Supra should weigh about 1750 kg, while the Charger should be around 1630 kg.
Based on this scenario, it is clear who would be the winner of this illegal race in a real scenario. That's right: Dominic Toretto and his Dodge Charger. Disappointed? Read on...
Second scenario. If it was with real cars
In this scenario #2, we're going to use the cars that actually shot that scene. As you know, the main cars are not used in the action scenes for obvious reasons. So forget the values of scenario #1.
In this case, according to Lieberman, the winner would be Brian O'Conner's Toyota Supra. According to this responsible for the film, most Dodge Chargers used in the action scenes were not equipped with the Hemi V8 526 Supercharged engine, but rather with a less powerful and more common version: an atmospheric Hemi 318 with “only” 5.2 liters of capacity.

Third Scenario. what was supposed to happen
This is the scenario that the producers of Velocity Furious wanted: there are no winners or losers. On one side we have the hero Brian O'Conner, on the other the anti-hero Dominic Toretto. There was not supposed to be a winner.
