At a time when people carriers continue to lose ground, Mercedes-Benz decided to continue to invest in this type of bodywork and launched the new generation of the Mercedes-Benz Class B . Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, the Mercedes-Benz MPV already has prices for Portugal.
Created based on the MFA 2 platform (the same as the A-Class), the Mercedes-Benz B-Class kept its monobody silhouette. However, it received a smaller front span, slightly reduced height, and larger wheels, with dimensions between 16' and 19'. Inside, the style follows in the footsteps of the A-Class with two screens being the highlight on the dashboard.
The Mercedes-Benz B-Class is still equipped with the MBUX artificial intelligence system (which debuted in the A-Class) and inherited several technologies from the S-Class. Some of them are semi-autonomous driving, DISTRONIC active distance control assistant and active emergency braking assistant.
Class B engines
In Portugal, the Mercedes-Benz Class B will be available with four engines, only one of which is gasoline.
Diesel offer starts at B180d , which uses a 1.5 l engine that produces 116 hp and 260 Nm of torque. This is associated with the 7G-DCT dual-clutch gearbox and the German brand announces fuel consumption between 4.1 and 4.4 l/100 km, while emissions are between 109 and 115 g/km.

The B200d and B220d versions debut the new 2 l Mercedes-Benz diesel engine, always associated with the 8G-DCT dual-clutch gearbox. At the B200d the engine delivers 150 hp and 320 Nm of torque. The consumptions announced are between 4.2 and 4.5 l/100 km, in terms of emissions, Mercedes-Benz announces values between 112 and 119 g/km.
In case of B220d , the 2 l diesel engine delivers 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque, with consumption announced between 4.4 and 4.5 l/100 km. The emissions are between 116 and 119 g/km.
As for the only petrol version of the Mercedes-Benz Class B in Portugal, the B200 , uses a 1.33 l engine that produces 163 hp and 250 Nm of torque. This is associated with the 7G-DCT dual-clutch gearbox and has announced consumptions of 5.4 to 5.6 l/100 km and emissions from 124 to 129 g/km.
