This Suzuki Jimny Wanted To Be A Jeep Grand Wagoneer

Anonim

Here, we have already introduced you to many of the transformations that the new Suzuki Jimmy has been targeted. From a "Defender" Jimny to a "G-Class" Jimny, we've already seen a bit of everything. What you probably didn't know is that the craze for turning the Jimny into other cars is not new, and this one Jimny "Grand Wagoneer" is the proof.

Originally sold in Japan, this 1991 model belongs to the second generation of the Jimny (you should know it as Samurai around here), it has about 25,000 kilometers and was imported to the United States only in 2018. However, it was recently sold for $6900 (about 6152 euros) on the Bring a Trailer website.

The most interesting thing about this Jimny is the fact that someone decided to turn it into a mini-Jeep Grand Wagoneer — a historic name on the Jeep that, oddly enough, is expected to return to the American brand's portfolio in a few years.

Like the original Grand Wagoneer (see image at the end of the article), this Jimny used applications in imitation wood, chrome bumpers and mirrors and a grill, also chrome, designed to resemble the one used by the Jeep (Not all Grand Wagoneers had the traditional seven-bar grill).

To give the Jimny a look close to that of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, the former owner resorted to imitation wood appliqués.

A small engine for a small jeep

As it is a version originally sold in Japan (kei car), this Jimny (or Samurai, as you prefer) is even smaller than the one sold here. The absence of wheel arch wideners contributes to this, which makes it appear even narrower.

After being painted, the interior appears to be in good condition.

On the newly painted interior (yes, the seller says he painted the dashboard and door panels), the biggest highlight turns out to be the inscription “Turbo” on the steering wheel. This one is there to remind us that under the bonnet is a small 660 cm3 turbo engine (as usual in kei cars), which is associated with a five-speed manual gearbox.
