Alpina B7 renews itself and receives the XXL grille from the BMW 7 Series

Anonim

The renewal of the BMW 7 Series has brought us among several things, two that stand out: the first is the huge grille. The second is confirmation that, it seems, BMW remains committed to not launching an M7. However, if for the first there seems to be no solution, for the second there is, and it goes by the name of Alpine B7.

Developed on the basis of the Series 7, the Alpina B7 joins the arguments associated with the renewal of the top of the range of the Bavarian brand, both at a technological level, with the adoption of the latest version of the BMW Touch Command for the rear occupants (version 7.0), as in terms of finishes and interior decoration, more power and performance.

Aesthetically, the changes are very discreet, summed up, above all, by the iconic Alpine wheels (behind which larger brakes are “hidden”) and the exhaust. The much talked about grille remains identical to the one found on the BMW 7 Series.

Improved mechanics was the bet

If aesthetically the Alpina B7 remains practically identical to the BMW 7 Series, under the bonnet, the same cannot be said. Thus, the 4.4 l twin-turbo V8 used by the BMW 750i xDrive saw power rise from 530 hp to a more expressive 608 hp. and the torque grows, going from 750 Nm to 800 Nm.

Furthermore, tweaks at the engine software mapping level allow torque to reach 2000 rpm (in the previous B7 it reached 3000 rpm). At the level of the transmission, power continues to be passed to all four wheels through an automatic eight-speed gearbox, but this has been reinforced and has seen gear changes become faster.

As for the suspension, it drops 15 mm above 225 km/h (or at the touch of a button). All these changes that we have mentioned allow the Alpina B7 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6s and reach a maximum speed of 330 km/h.
