Cold Start. T-Roc Cabriolet is already in production… with the Porsche Cayman!?

Instead, the T-Roc Convertible , currently the only convertible with the Volkswagen brand, saw its production move to Germany, more precisely to the German group's unit in Osnabrück, Lower Saxony.

Osnabrück is a unit with a long history at Volkswagen — its origins go back to the automobile itself, opening doors in 1874 to produce carriages, later acquired by Karmann (1901) which began collaboration with Volkswagen in 1949, definitively passing into the hands of the giant German in 2009.

Osnabrück's experience in the production of convertibles is vast — the Golf Cabriolet was produced there, for example — but it is also an immensely flexible factory.

To prove it, in addition to the new T-Roc Cabriolet, the Skoda Karoq is also produced there, as well as the… Porsche Cayman — who would have guessed… The factory also produces the Moia +6 (a special Transporter from the Volkswagen mobility brand ) and various parts for other Porsches and even Bentley.

Osnabrück's small-series vehicle specialist status couldn't be more evident when we discovered that it was also the production site of the super-efficient and still intriguing Volkswagen XL1.
