In 2020 a Honda CR-Z and four new Dodge Vipers were sold in the US

Some call them “zombie cars”, others “collection remains”. Every year, the sales tables list models that are no longer on the market — sometimes for several years — and 2020 was no exception. In the US, for example, two models stand out: o Honda CR-Z and the Dodge Viper.

Starting with the Honda CR-Z, the “spiritual heir” of the iconic CRX, it was always far from the expected success and saw its production end in 2016. Still, the fact that it stopped being produced four years ago did not stop anyone from buying a new Honda CR-Z in the US last year.

As for the Dodge Viper, the situation is even more curious. Is that not even two units of the iconic North American sports car were sold, but a total of four units of the Viper (a few months ago we had announced the sale of three units in 2020).

Out of curiosity, 2020 was not the first year that Dodge Viper units were sold, despite the fact that it was no longer produced in 2017. In 2018, 19 coupé units were sold and in 2019, five units were sold. The question that now arises is simple: how many new Vipers are still waiting to be owned?

the other cases

Contrary to what you might think, the Honda CR-Z and Dodge Viper weren't the only “collection scraps” sold in the US last year. Proof of this are several units of models from FCA brands whose production has already ended, which only found a new owner in 2020.
