After having speculated (although it was almost certain) the birth of the Fiat Viaggio, Fiat is now launching the first details of this compact sedan.
As predicted, Viaggio has its first public appearance scheduled for the Beijing Motor Show, and as we said last month, this Italian sedan is based on the Dodge Dart. As such, its platform is the same as the American model, CUSW (Compact USA Wide), with a wheelbase of 2708 mm.
And since we're talking about measurements, it's always useful to know that the Viaggio measures 4,679 mm in length and 1,850 mm in width. Despite its American roots, the model was designed in Tornino, Italy, and features more traditional features such as the bumper, chrome grille, optics and the shape of the rear section clearly proving that this is a European model (at least visually…).
Electric power will be supplied by a 1.4 liter T-Jet engine with 118 hp and 148 hp of power, all coupled with a five-speed manual transmission or a dual-clutch gearbox (DDCT).
Viaggio should arrive at Chinese dealerships in the third quarter of 2012, so it will only reach the old continent by the beginning of next year.
