At a time when several manufacturers have developed solutions in this field, Moia, a start-up owned by the Volkswagen Group, has just presented the first vehicle, worldwide, built specifically for use in ride-sharing. And that, guarantees the company, should start circulating in the streets of Hamburg, as early as next year.

This new vehicle, equipped with a 100% electric propulsion system, presents itself as a precursor of a new form of mobility in big cities, thanks also to a maximum capacity of six passengers. Model with which Moia believes it could contribute to removing around one million private cars from European and American roads, by 2025.

As for the vehicle itself, it was designed specifically for shared travel services required at the time, or ride-sharing, featuring not only individual seats, but also a particular concern with the space available for passengers who also have individual lights, USB ports at their disposal. , in addition to common wifi.

Using an electric drive solution, the new vehicle also announces autonomy in the order of 300 kilometers, in addition to the possibility of being able to recharge up to 80% of the capacity of the batteries, in about half an hour.

Also according to information already disclosed by this Volkswagen Group subsidiary, the vehicle was developed in no more than 10 months, a time span that is also a record, within the German automobile group.

Other proposals also on the way

However, despite being the first, Moia should not be the only start-up or company to present ride-sharing solutions in the near future. A solution also developed by the Danish entrepreneur, Henrik Fisker, which should reach Chinese roads as early as October 2018, is also a solution in this case. In this case, materialized in the form of a capsule, with fully autonomous driving.

Also this week, according to British Autocar, an electric city car should also arrive, developed by the Swedish start-up Uniti, which, guarantees the company, “will reinvent the concept of the modern city car”. From the outset, because it has autonomous driving, in addition to being operated completely electronically, instead of using buttons and levers.
