This week, the Czech brand released the first photos of the new Skoda Octavia RS. It will be available with two engines, one diesel and one gasoline.
Shown in two bodyworks, saloon and van, with two engines to choose from, the new Skoda Octavia RS appears for the first time in photos before the grand opening scheduled for the Goodwood Festival, the largest and most traditional car gathering in the land of «yours majesty".
The more powerful version of the Skoda Octavia RS will have a maximum power of 220hp, generated by a 2.0 TSI petrol engine, while the diesel version will have a maximum power of 184hp extracted from the 2.0 TDI engine. The same engines that we'll find in the sportier versions of the Volkswagen Golf range, the GTI and GTD respectively.
The Skoda Octavia RS is originally equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox, which in the TSI version allows the Czech model to reach 0-100km/h in just 6.8sec. while in the diesel version the same «sprint» takes an impressive, but longer, 8.1 sec. A dual-clutch DSG gearbox will be available as an option, which will certainly make this Octavia even faster, but the DSG gearbox numbers are not yet known.
Compared to the conventional versions of the Octavia range, the new RS will be 12mm lower (13mm on the Combi version) and will come equipped with the well-known XDS electronic differential lock system, which acts at the level of the front brakes to simulate the effect of a lock of mechanical differential.
Highlight also for the new set of sports wheels (the most beautiful we have seen) and for the new bumpers and darkened headlights. If these elements aren't enough for the more absent-minded to distinguish the Skoda Octavia RS from its range brothers, the RS abbreviations scattered all over the body and the red-painted calipers will put an end to doubts. While this version with more "pepper" does not enter the garage of RazãoAutomóvel, remember the 1000km we did aboard the spare Skoda Octavia RS 1.6 TDI.
