Just over a month ago we showed you firsthand some unofficial images of the new Skoda Rapid 2013, now, a month later, the Czech brand has fully released the final look of its new sedan.
The Rapid comes to stand between the Fabia and Octavia models, measuring 4.48 meters in length, 1.71 in width, 1.46 in height and has a wheelbase of 2.61 meters. Like many others, Rapid is based on Volkswagen's MQB platform. It is perhaps (for sure) the hottest platform in recent times.
This is the first vehicle to use the brand's new design language, combining “perfect proportions” with “clear lines”. We can see in the images that this Skoda has very conservative and balanced lines, that is, it was not built to win new hearts, but rather to make the brand's usual followers even more loyal.
If by chance it was not designed for this purpose, then we risk saying that they failed completely. But beware, this is not saying that we don't like the car's exterior look, it's just hard to believe that there will be a big rush to the stands.
Under the hood, the Skoda Rapid 2013 will come with:
A 1.6 liter TDi block with 90 hp and 105 hp of power.
A 1.2 liter TSi block with 75 hp, 86 hp and 105 hp, all with three cylinders.
A 1.4 liter TSi block with 122 hp and 200 Nm of torque.
The new Skoda Rapid will be officially unveiled to the public in mid-October at the Paris Motor Show, as sales are not expected to start until the beginning of next year.
