It's official: Renault Arkana comes to Europe

Unveiled two years ago at the Moscow Motor Show and until now exclusive to markets like the Russian or South Korean (where it is sold as Samsung XM3), the Renault Arkana preparing to come to Europe.

If you remember correctly, initially Renault had put aside the possibility of marketing the Arkana in Europe, however, the French brand has now changed its mind and the reason behind this decision is very simple: SUVs sell.

Despite looking at all the same as the Arkana we already know, the European version will be developed based on the CMF-B platform (used by the new Clio and Captur) instead of the Kaptur platform, the Russian version of the first generation of the Renault Captur.

Despite being a common sight in Europe, the SUV-Coupé are, for now, a “fiefdom” of premium brands in the Old Continent. Now, with the arrival of the Arkana on the European market, Renault becomes the first generalist brand to propose a model with these characteristics in Europe.

This familiarity with the two models extends to the interior, which is in every way identical to what we find in the current Captur. This means that the instrument panel is composed of a screen with 4.2”, 7” or 10.2” and a touchscreen with 7” or 9.3” depending on the versions.

Electrification is the watchword

In total, the Renault Arkana will be available with three engines. One fully hybrid and two petrol, the TCe140 and TCe160. Speaking of these, both rely on a 1.3 l turbo with four cylinders with 140 hp and 160 hp, respectively.

Common to both is the fact that they are associated with an automatic double-clutch EDC gearbox and a 12V micro-hybrid system.

The hybrid version, designated E-Tech as is standard at Renault, uses the same mechanics as the Clio E-Tech. This means that the hybrid Arkana uses a 1.6 l gasoline engine and two electric motors powered by a 1.2 kWh battery. The end result is 140 hp of maximum combined power.
