We were already able to pre-book it, we already knew some of its technical data and we could even order it, however, until now, what we didn't know about ID.3 was what it looked like. Well then, with the arrival of the Frankfurt Motor Show, the wait is over.
As promised, Volkswagen decided to remove the camouflage that until now covered the bodywork of the ID.3 and unveiled its first model developed based on the MEB platform, confirming many similarities with the prototype I.D. presented in 2016.
Inside, the biggest highlight is the almost total absence of physical controls, with the ID.3 betting on tactile controls, with only the traditional "buttons" remaining for electric windows and emergency lights (the “four blinkers”).
Three batteries, three autonomy
As we've already told you, the Volkswagen ID.3 will be available with three batteries. The littlest, of 45 kWh of capacity allows to travel 330 km between loads (values already according to the WLTP cycle).
The battery of 58 kWh (the one chosen for the special release version ID.3 1ST), offers a range of 420 km . Finally, the highest capacity battery, 77 kWh, allows a range of 550 km.
According to Volkswagen, it is possible to restore up to 290 km of autonomy in just 30 minutes, this when using a 100 kW charger.
Although it has not yet released all the technical data relating to its new model, Volkswagen has confirmed that the version equipped with the 58 kWh battery will have an electric motor mounted on the rear axle that delivers 150 kW of power, or 204 hp of power. power, 310 Nm of torque and allows a top speed of 160 km/h.
The use of the MEB platform allowed Volkswagen to take advantage of it by maximizing the use of interior space.
