Taycan. All numbers of Porsche's first tram

Anonim

There he is. After several teasers and several challenges to demonstrate its endurance, the Porsche Taycan finally emerges without camouflage. We went to Neuhardenberg, near Berlin, Germany, for the world unveiling of the new Taycan, the first electric car from the German manufacturer.

Not only were we able to see it live firsthand, but the first figures on the new machine were released, the beginning of a new era for Porsche — and we even have prices for the Portuguese market.

The Porsche Taycan is a “high-performance sports car”, say its officials — albeit with four doors and four seats — and to reinforce the argument, the first Taycans that are made known are precisely its most powerful versions: the curiously called the Taycan Turbo and the Taycan Turbo S.

The maximum horsepower the Taycan Turbo S can have, or the equivalent of 560 kW. The Taycan Turbo advertises 500 kW, or 680 hp. The maximum torque is a "fat" 1050 Nm , and let's not forget that, being electric, they are available at the first press of the accelerator. Other versions, more modest, will follow them in a short time.

Both Taycans use two synchronous electric motors, one per axle, ensuring all-wheel drive — electric motor, transmission and inverter are combined in a single compact unit, guaranteeing these modules “the highest energy density (kW per liter of storage space) of all electrical powertrains available on the market today”.

The Porsche Taycan debuts in an electric production model with a two-speed transmission — something already seen in competition, as in Formula E —, installed on the rear axle. Once again, Porsche brings solutions for road cars from the competition.

The first relationship is dedicated to acceleration, leveraging it from a static position. The longer second ratio ensures greater efficiency and power reserves, even at high speeds.

9.8

The time in seconds, to reach… 200 km/h for the Taycan Turbo S — 100 km/h is reached in a mere 2.8s. The Taycan Turbo is obviously slower, but nothing slow — 100 km/h are reached in 3.2s.

The top speed is noteworthy — for both versions — not only for being above the “typical” and electronically limited to 250 km/h, as Porsche says it's a speed that the Taycan is not only capable of achieving, but keep it up steadily.

450

The value in kilometers, for the autonomy of the new Porsche Taycan Turbo — and, of course, already according to the WLTP certification. The most powerful Taycan Turbo S has an official range of 412 km.

The Li-ion battery pack has a capacity of 93.4 kWh , placed on the floor of the Taycan's J1 platform, which gives the new tram a lower center of gravity than the 911 icon.

800

The new Porsche Taycan is the first production electric car with a voltage of 800 V (Volts), instead of the usual 400 V of other electric cars. Vantage? The new Taycan can be charged up to 270 kW, which is equivalent, under optimal charging conditions, to 100 km of autonomy for every five minutes of charging. It only takes 22.5 minutes to charge it from 5% to 80%.

It is the value, in kW, of the energy recovery potential, much higher than the competition. According to Porsche, approximately 90% of day-to-day braking is carried out using only the electric motors, without the hydraulic brakes being activated.

0.22

Aerodynamics is a crucial factor in trams to be able to extend their range. The new Porsche Taycan is no different, with the manufacturer announcing an aerodynamic drag coefficient, Cx, of just 0.22, one of the lowest values in the industry in absolute terms.

More compact than the Panamera, and with a maximum capacity of four seats, the new Taycan doesn't have one, but two trunks, rear and front. An advantage of the electrical architecture, as it frees the front end of a massive internal combustion engine.

The advertised rear luggage carrier capacity is only 366 l , a somewhat modest figure, with the front luggage compartment offering an additional 81 liters of capacity.

Regarding the interior, we have already dedicated a few words to it before:

There are four driving modes, adapted to the specifics of the Taycan: Range, Normal, Sport and Sport Plus. Quatro is also part of the name of the new control system that analyzes and synchronizes all chassis systems in real time, the Porsche 4D Chassis Control.

And what chassis systems are these? All familiar acronyms from the Porsche lexicon: PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) which electronically controls adaptive suspension with three-chamber technology; PDCC Sport (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport) which includes the PTV (Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus).

How much does it cost?

It is now possible to order the first Porsche tram in Portugal, with the new Porsche Taycan Turbo starting at prices 158 221 euros , with the value rising to the 192 661 euros in the case of the Taycan Turbo S.
