After being presented at the Detroit Motor Show earlier this year, the new Mercedes-Benz G-Class is now presented for the first time in Europe. The model that celebrates its 40 years of existence, bets on a retouched look, trying not to lose the spirit of the original model.

Finally, Mercedes-Benz decided to change the chassis of its icon, which sees its dimensions increase — 53 mm in length and 121 mm in width — the biggest highlight goes to the redesigned bumpers, as well as the new optics, where the highlights the circular LED signature.

Inside there are also novelties, of course, where, in addition to a new steering wheel, new applications in metal and new finishes in wood or carbon fiber, there is an increase in space, particularly in the rear seats, where occupants now have 150 more mm for the legs, 27 mm more at the level of the shoulders and another 56 mm at the level of the elbows.

In addition to the analogue instrument panel, the highlight is the new all-digital solution, with two 12.3-inch screens, and a new seven-speaker sound system or, as an option, a more advanced 16-speaker Burmester Surround system.

Although more luxurious than its predecessor, the new G-Class also promises to be even more competent on off-road, with the presence of three 100% limited-slip differentials, as well as a new front axle and independent front suspension. The rear axle is also new, and the brand guarantees that, among other attributes, the model has “a more stable and robust behavior”.

The most extravagant and powerful of the brand's G-Class could not be missing in Geneva. The Mercedes-AMG G 63 has a 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 engine and 585 hp — despite having 1500 cm3 less than its predecessor, it is more powerful — and will be associated with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Announces awesome 850Nm of torque between 2500 and 3500 rpm, and manages to project almost two and a half tons for the 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds . Naturally the top speed will be limited to 220 km/h, or 240 km/h with the option of the AMG Driver pack.

At Geneva there is an even more special version of this pure AMG, Edition 1, available in ten possible colours, with red accents on the exterior mirrors and 22-inch alloy wheels in matte black. Inside there will also be red accents with the carbon fiber console and sports seats with a specific pattern.
