According to the brand, the new Skoda Kodiaq has all the spices to be a success: expressive design, high functionality and many “Simply Clever” features.

Through the Skoda Kodiaq, the Czech brand of the Volkswagen group makes its debut in the trendiest and most talked about segment in recent times, with rapid growth in all segments: the SUV segment.

According to Bernhard Maier, CEO of Skoda, the new Skoda Kodiaq:

It combines an active sense of vitality with classic brand features and qualities, plus a high degree of functionality and generous space (...). Furthermore, with its emotional design, the Skoda Kodiaq has a strong presence on the road.

At 1.91 m wide, 1.68 m high and 4.70 m long, the Skoda Kodiaq offers space for seven occupants and a high luggage capacity, just as the brand has accustomed us to. In the five-seat or seven-seat version, according to the brand, the Kodiaq has space for everything, with the luggage compartment capacity reaching 2,065 liters – the five-seater variant has the largest volumetry in its class.

In terms of infotainment, the Skoda Kodiaq demonstrates that the brand is thinking “of tomorrow”. The infotainment systems come from the second generation of the Volkswagen Group's Modular Infotainment Matrix and offer a Wi-Fi hotspot and, as an optional extra, an LTE module that connects to the Internet. In this way, passengers can surf the net and send emails via mobile phones and tablets via Kodiak. Connection to smartphones via the SmartLink platform is standard and wireless device charging is available as an option.

As for powertrains, there will be a range of five engines: two TDI (presumably 150 and 190hp) and three TSI petrol blocks (the most powerful petrol engine will be the 180hp 2.0 TSI). Different technologies are also available at the transmission level: six-speed manual transmission or dual clutch DSG, and front or all-wheel drive (only on the most powerful engines).

NOT TO BE MISSED: Skoda and Volkswagen, a 25-year marriage

According to the brand, the new Czech SUV will be able to face the most different paths in a balanced and comfortable way. Equipped with Driving Mode Select and the new Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), steering, throttle, DSG transmission and suspension operation can be configured to suit each individual's taste. The Skoda Kodiaq will be presented later this year, and its launch on the national market should only take place in 2017.
