The 1.5 BlueHDi was one of the latest additions to the PSA group's powertrain portfolio. The new Diesel engine is also already part of the options for the Peugeot 3008 , so we didn't miss the opportunity to meet up with the very successful French SUV with its new “heart”.
Tested, on video, in its manual box version, the William Costa , however, reveals its preference for the new eight-speed automatic transmission from the PSA group, which can also be associated with this engine, proving to be a better pair and easier to use.
As the big news is the engine, Guilherme is surprised by its flexibility and pleasantness, with a very good torque distribution, despite the 130 hp they can do little in the benefits department — don't compromise, but don't expect high payments. It was also very restrained in consumption, less than 6.0 l/100 km.
The Peugeot 3008, despite its great success and three years on the market, nevertheless continues to have strong arguments in the segment, as you can see in the video. From the good levels of habitability, to the interior that Guilherme considers to be the best in the segment — from the materials to the quality of the assembly and, of course, the sophisticated presentation of the same.
Less positive for the concentration of features in the infotainment system, such as air conditioning; as well as the unintuitive use of the entire system, something to review in future iterations. On the other side of the scale, a very positive note for the seats, especially for their massage system, a mandatory extra... according to Guilherme.
The EMP2 platform that underpins the 3008 is only praiseworthy, also allowing for a good balance between comfort and dynamics, and putting the French SUV at or very close to the segment's dynamic benchmarks such as the SEAT Ateca, the Mazda CX-5 or the Ford Kuga.
