After the A-Class and B-Class, it was the turn of the Mercedes-Benz GLA, CLA Coupé and CLA Shooting Brake to join the Mercedes-Benz family of plug-in hybrid models.
Named, respectively, GLA 250 and, CLA 250 and Coupé, and CLA 250 and Shooting Brake, the three new plug-in hybrid models from Mercedes-Benz do not bring any novelty in mechanical terms.
Thus, they “marry” the well-known 1.33 l four-cylinder engine, with 160 hp and 250 Nm, to an electric motor with 75 kW (102 hp) and 300 Nm powered by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 15.6 kWh.
The end result is a combined power of 218 hp (160 kW) and 450 Nm. As for charging the battery, charging it between 10 and 80% in a 7.4 kW wallbox takes 1h45min; on a 24 kW charger, the same charge takes just 25 minutes.
The numbers of the three new plug-in hybrids
Despite sharing mechanics, the three new Mercedes-Benz plug-in hybrids do not present exactly the same numbers in terms of consumption, emissions, autonomy in 100% electric mode and, of course, benefits.

Therefore, in this table you can keep track of all the numbers presented by the plug-in hybrid variants of the Mercedes-Benz GLA, CLA Coupé and CLA Shooting Brake:
Model | Consumptions* | Electric autonomy* | CO2 emissions* | Acceleration (0-100 km/h) | Maximum speed |
CLA 250 and Coupé | 1.4 to 1.5 l/100 km | 60 to 69 km | 31 to 35 g/km | 6.8s | 240 km/h |
CLA 250 and Shooting Brake | 1.4 to 1.6 l/100 km | 58 to 68 km | 33 to 37 g/km | 6.9s | 235 km/h |
GLA 250 and | 1.6 to 1.8 l/100 km | 53 to 61 km | 38 to 42 g/km | 7.1s | 220 km/h |

Common to the three models are the two driving programs “Electric” and “Battery Level” and the possibility to choose one of five energy recovery levels (DAUTO, D+, D, D– and D– –) via paddles on the steering wheel .
For now, it is not known when the plug-in hybrid variants of the GLA, CLA Coupé and CLA Shooting Brake will reach the Portuguese market or how much they will cost here.
