Renault Triber. The seven-seater compact SUV you can't buy

Anonim

Renault's goals in India are ambitious: over the next three years the French brand (which almost joined the FCA) intends to double sales in that market to values in the region of 200 thousand units/year. For that, the new Triber is one of your bets.

Designed and produced with just India in mind, the Renault Triber it is the latest SUV of the French brand and is one of the exclusive products that Renault leaves out of the European market (see the cases of the Kwid and Arkana).

The big news of the small SUV is that, despite measuring less than four meters in length (3.99 m), the Triber is capable of carrying up to seven people, and in the five-seater configuration the trunk offers an impressive 625 l of capacity (notable for a model smaller than the new Clio).

Viewed from the side, you can find the mix of MPV and SUV genes in the Triber's design.

Engines? There is only one…

On the outside, the Triber mixes MPV and SUV genes with an (oddly) short front and a tall, narrow body. Even so, it is possible to find the Renault “family air”, especially on the grid, and we cannot say that the end result is unpleasant (although perhaps far from European tastes).

Despite measuring just 3.99 m, the Triber is capable of carrying up to seven people.

Inside, although simplicity reigns, it is already possible to find an 8” touchscreen (which should be reserved for the top versions) and a digital instrument panel.

The interior is characterized by simplicity.

As for powertrains, only a (very) modest is available. 1.0 l of 3 cylinders and only 72 hp that it can be coupled to a manual or robotized five-speed gearbox and that, taking into account the familiar tasks that the Triber proposes, we assume that it will not have an easy life, even considering that it weighs less than 1000 kg.

As we've already told you, Renault does not plan to bring this new SUV to Europe.
