It's a constant ritual… When a new generation of a model appears, for another one that has the importance and impact as the BMW 3 Series , will never generate consensus. Some will accuse the brand of having visually "damaged" the model, others will simply fall in love with all the lines and details.
But even fans of the design of the new BMW 3 Series, the shape of the front and rear optics raised questions, due to similar traits with cars that were not… BMW.
In particular, the notch in the Series 3 headlamps , dividing the optics in two at its base, would be associated with models there towards Sochaux's sides.
Obviously the inspiration did not come from the Gauls. BMW points to one of its own models as inspiration, another 3 Series, in this case the E46, perhaps the most aesthetically preferred generation.
The big difference is in the approach. In the E46 (post-restyling), this division results from the intersection of two arcuate lines, while in the G20, the optics, with angular design, have the same division, but the format is different, approaching, as several have already mentioned, others solutions on the market.
