The Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo was one of the most iconic sports cars of the 90s and was, at the same time, the last Nissan Z to have a turbo engine. Now the Japanese brand decided to take advantage of the SEMA to show what a new sports car with a turbo engine would be like, and created the Project Clubsport 23, a Nissan 370Z with a Turbo.
This 370Z is a project ready to hit the tracks and, like the late 300ZX Twin Turbo, it uses a 3.0 l V6 twin-turbo engine. However, unlike its predecessor, this car is a one-off model, so fans of the brand won't be able to buy it.
To create the Project Clubsport 23, Nissan started with a 370Z Nismo and replaced the 3.7 l and 344 hp engine with the 3.0 l twin-turbo V6 that is used in the Infiniti Q50 and Q60. Thanks to this exchange, the sports car now has a further 56 hp, starting to deliver about 406 hp of power.
It wasn't just changing the engine
The biggest challenge of this exchange was how to marry the six-speed manual gearbox used by the 370Z with an engine that was only supposed to be associated with an automatic gearbox. They did it thanks to MA Motorsports, which created a new clutch disc and a new flywheel that allow the engine and gearbox to work together.

The Project Clubsport 23 also received a new exhaust system, new braking system, Eibach springs and Nismo suspension arms, in addition to new 18″ wheels.
Aesthetically, the 370Z received several carbon fiber components, an eye-catching paint job and now had the exhaust pipes next to the number plate, while inside it now has Recaro backets and a Sparco steering wheel.
Nissan also said that it may sell parts of the kit that makes up this car, but not the engine. That said, it can only be dreamed that the next Nissan Z will feature this engine, but honestly, it's more likely to be a plug-in hybrid than a sports car powered by a 3.0 l twin-turbo V6.
