Three-volume saloon variant of the European Class A, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan presents a front that is identical to that of the two volumes (hatchback), an interpretation of what the star brand calls “Predator Look”, and which, looking at the images, seems to have a body as stylish as the CLA's.
But unlike the CLA, the roof doesn't arch as sharply — accentuating a coupe-like aesthetic. — without sacrificing height in the back seats.
The A-Class Sedan reinterprets the exterior lines made known with the Concept A Sedan, presented at last year's edition of the Beijing Motor Show, albeit softened and with more conventional door handles. Completing the set, the wheels go from 16 to 19 inches, while, in the back, the trunk can swallow 420 l of load capacity.
In the profile, the flatter development ceiling and the increased wheelbase are clear.
Interior identical to our Class A
Inside the cabin, the replica of the hatchback environment, not missing even the new MBUX infotainment system , with a pair of digital screens and all the technology that Mercedes-Benz can put in a compact.
The Chinese consumer highly values the comfort and interior space, especially in the back, so it is common to sell there elongated versions of the cars we have in Europe. The new A-Class Sedan is no exception, with the letter “L” appearing in its name — its full name is Mercedes-Benz A-Class L Sports Sedan — which means wheelbase increased by 60 mm, for a total of 2,789 m.

Two engines, an automatic transmission
In China, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan will be available with a 1.33 l petrol block, equipped with a cylinder deactivation system, and with two power levels: 136 and 163 hp. That will be joined by another four-cylinder, with 2.0 l and announcing 190 hp of power.
Both engines are available as standard only and only with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The long version of the A-Class Sedan will be officially unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show, whose doors open this Wednesday, side-by-side with the long versions of the C and E-Class. Both, like the A, produced locally, through the local partnership with BAIC Motor.
There are no plans to sell this A-Class variant in Europe, but there will be a successor to the Mercedes-Benz CLA — also destined for the North American market, where the A-Class hatchback is not available — which should be known later this year , predictably during the Paris Salon that takes place next October.
