Mercedes-AMG GT 73 confirmed as a hybrid. More than 800 hp?

Anonim

Mercedes-AMG has just officially shown the Mercedes-AMG GT 73 , the hybrid model that will stand above the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4Matic+ 4 doors in the Affalterbach brand range.

Still covered by strong camouflage, the Mercedes-AMG GT 73 has already been seen live, alongside the new W12 F1 and the Mercedes-AMG One, in an event that served to announce the closer relationship between Mercedes-AMG and the Formula 1 team.

The German brand has yet to reveal the details of this model's drive system, but rumors suggest that the well-known Mercedes-AMG 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 block, now associated with an electric motor, should offer a combined power of more than 800 hp.

Remember that this hybrid mechanics — which will be based on an all-wheel drive system — had already been anticipated in 2017, when the GT Concept was introduced to the world. Like that prototype, this AMG GT 73 should also be able to perform the acceleration exercise from 0 to 100 km/h in less than three seconds.

"V8 Biturbo And Performance"

The exterior look of the Mercedes-AMG GT 73 will be in every way similar to that of the “brother” GT 63 S, although this version has an entirely new designation that will serve to identify future high-performance hybrid models from AMG. Thus, in the place where the signature “V8 Biturbo 4Matic+” appeared, the name “V8 Biturbo E Performance” will appear, in a clear reference to the electrification of the model.

When arrives?

Mercedes-AMG has not yet revealed the official date for the arrival on the market of the Mercedes-AMG GT 73, but it is known that the presentation should take place in the spring, with the commercial debut taking place later this year. As for prices and taking into account that in the national market the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4Matic+ 4 doors starts at 224 650 EUR, it is expected that the new AMG GT 73 will “shoot” for 250 000 EUR.
