First Electric Hummer was sold for 2.1 million euros

The first unit of the GMC Hummer EV, the model that marks the return of the Hummer — not as a brand but as a GMC model — was sold this weekend for 2.5 million dollars (approximately 2.1 million euros ) at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction.

The amount paid by the owner — anonymous — for this Hummer EV with chassis #001 was enough to buy 22 new copies of this electric pick-up, but this was not just any auction and this purchase was for good reason.

Is that all the money raised from the sale of this first Hummer EV will be used to support the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a foundation created in honor of the victims of the September 11 attacks in the United States of America.

Remember that the GMC Hummer EV has hardware that promises to make it a relentless off-road proposition. In addition to having four-wheel drive and steering, it has three electric motors (integrated into two units, one per axle), which guarantee 1000 hp of power and 15 592 Nm of torque... to the wheel (value of torque multiplied by final relationship).

The suspension is pneumatic, which allows you to vary the ground clearance, having an “Extract Mode” that raises the suspension 149 mm (more than the ground clearance of many conventional cars) to ensure that the bottom does not scrape on the most difficult obstacles.

And as if that weren't enough, this monstrous electric pick-up has a set of 18 cameras, which even allows you to see what's going on under the vehicle when dealing with more delicate obstacles.

Thanks to 1000 hp of power — guaranteed by GM's new Ultium batteries — the GMC Hummer EV is capable of accelerating from 0 to 96 km/h (60 mph) in just 3.0s. As for autonomy, and despite not having been made official by the American brand, it is known that it is around 560 kilometers.

There are no plans for the new GMC Hummer EV to be sold in Europe, but North Americans will find it at dealerships starting in the fall of 2021, albeit only in the special launch version, First Edition, at prices starting at US$112,595 (around €95,000).
