Official. The production of the Audi e-tron GT has already started

Anonim

Having already driven it on the roads of Greece, the Audi e-tron GT saw production start at the Böllinger Höfe factory in Audi's Neckarsulm complex, the same place where models such as the plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid variants are produced of the A6, A7 and A8 or the very different (and little focused on ecology) Audi R8.

Audi's first 100% electric model to be produced in Germany, the e-tron GT is also, according to Audi, the fastest model in its history that reached production, despite all the constraints associated with the Covid-19 pandemic that the world faces.

In addition, the Audi e-tron GT is also a pioneer at Audi for being the first model whose production was entirely planned without the use of physical prototypes. In this way, all production sequences were tested virtually, using software developed by Audi and virtual reality applications.

Ecological from the moment of production

The environmental concern of the Audi e-tron GT is not limited to the fact that it does not consume fossil fuels, and proof of this is the fact that its manufacturing process is carbon neutral thanks to the use of renewable energies at the Neckarsulm plant ( electricity is obtained from renewable sources and heating is provided by biogas).

Regarding the start of production of the e-tron GT at this factory (which was enlarged, renewed and improved to accommodate the production of a model), the factory manager, Helmut Stettner, said: “As the electric and sport spearhead of the portfolio of Audi products, the e-tron GT is also perfect for the Neckarsulm plant, especially for the sports car production plant at Böllinger Höfe”.

As for the fact that production started so quickly even in a pandemic context, he says that it is the “result of combined skills and excellent teamwork”. Now that the production of the Audi e-tron GT has started, it only remains for Audi to reveal it without any camouflage.
