Cold Start. Where is the spare tire for the small Fiat 600 Multipla?

Fiat's history is full of small cars that are real packaging miracles. just look at the Fiat 600 Multiple (1956-1969). At 3.53 m long, it is 4 cm shorter than the current Fiat 500, but the 600 Multipla is capable of transporting six people in three rows of seats(!) — there was another configuration with only two rows of seats.

As you can imagine, in this six-seater version, there isn't room for much else, not even for luggage, which brought several problems... Contrary to what happens nowadays, at that time there were no repair kits, nor emergency wheels, but yes one real spare tire . Which, in the case of the Fiat 600 Multipla, posed a serious problem — where to put it?

The engine, with 600 cm3, is placed right at the back, with only a small “shelf” above it; and at the front… well, there's no front — the front occupants are already seated on the front axle.

The solution? As you can see in the images, the spare tire was placed in front of the "hang" ! It's not the most elegant solution, but it was undoubtedly effective.
