It's Jaguar's return to large premium vans. As predicted, the presentation of the new Jaguar XF Sportbrake reveals a model that adds space and versatility to the saloon we already know. It will face strong competition in the E-segment, with proposals such as the Audi A6 Avant, BMW 5 Series Touring, Mercedes-Benz E-Class Station or Volvo V90.

As for the prototypes we've already seen this year, there are no surprises. In this more familiar version, the big differences for the saloon can be seen, of course, in the rear section, with the elegant extension of the roof.

The XF Sportbrake measures 4,955mm in length, making it 6mm shorter than its predecessor, but the wheelbase has been increased by 51mm to 2,960mm. The aerodynamic resistance (Cd) is fixed at 0.29.

One of the novelties in terms of exterior design also influences the interior: the panoramic roof. With a surface of 1.6 m2, the glass roof lets in natural light that provides a more pleasant environment, according to the brand. In addition, the air in the cabin is filtered and ionized.

The result is a vehicle with a presence as sporty as the saloon, if not more.

The Touch Pro infotainment system benefits from a 10-inch screen. Moreover, the occupants of the rear seats enjoy more room for the legs and head, as a result of the longer wheelbase. Further back, the luggage compartment has a capacity of 565 liters (1700 liters with the rear seats folded down), and can be operated using a gesture control system.

Based on the Jaguar XF saloon which, let us remember, uses a platform with a high aluminum content, the XF Sportbrake includes the same technologies. The IDD system – four-wheel drive – stands out, present in some versions, and the Jaguar Land Rover's Ingenium engine family.

The Jaguar XF Sportbrake will be available in Portugal with four diesel options – a 2.0 liter, four-cylinder in-line engine with 163, 180 and 240 hp and 3.0 liter V6 with 300 hp -, and a petrol engine – 2.0 liter engine, four cylinders in 250 hp line . All versions are equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, with the exception of the 2.0 with 163 hp (equipped with a six-speed manual transmission).

The V6 3.0 version with 300 hp and 700 Nm allows you to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds.

Continuing through the technical details, the Integral-Link air rear suspension configuration has been specifically calibrated to meet the requirements of a familiar model for everyday use. Jaguar guarantees stability without prejudice to agile and dynamic handling. The XF Sportbrake also allows you to precisely adjust the suspension and the steering, transmission and accelerator, thanks to the Configurable Dynamic System.
