Seven months have passed since the introduction of the seventh generation of the BMW 5 Series (G30). Among several novelties in terms of aesthetics and a renewed range of engines, BMW promised a superior driving dynamics compared to the model that has now ceased to function.

For that reason, the sports variant BMW M5 (which has been tested at the Nürburgring for several months) is the one that arouses the most curiosity, all the more so when the Bavarian brand describes it as “the most exciting and enthralling high-performance saloon ever. created by BMW M”.

Let's go to the numbers?

Knowing the official values, it can be said that the new BMW M5 does not leave the credits in the hands of others. Unsurprisingly, the German sports car is equipped with an engine 4.4 V8 TwinPower Turbo – coupled to an eight-speed M Steptronic gearbox – which debits 600 hp of power and 700 Nm of torque.

BMW uses an M xDrive system specially designed for the M5 (F90), with three driving modes – 2WD, 4WD and 4WD Sport – and, by default, the power is transmitted to the rear axle. BMW M «boss» Frank van Meel guarantees that this solution ensures that the new M5 has “all the agility and precision of a rear-wheel-drive model with the balance of an all-wheel-drive model”.

As for the Active M differential, responsible for distributing power between the rear wheels, BMW promises more traction and stability in sporty driving.

BMW says the new M5 (F90) will be able to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds.

In terms of aesthetics, BMW shows us only a camouflaged version of the sports car, with the presentation of this new agenda model for the Frankfurt Motor Show. Even so, it is already possible to see the four tailpipes and the new rear and front bumpers, which will receive the usual «treatment» of BMW's M division.

The new BMW M5 (F90) will hit European markets early next year, with prices yet to be revealed.
