Cold Start. Audi e-tron "climbing" ski slope with 85% gradient

The 1986 ad for the Audi 100 CS quattro became famous — can we say “viral”? — in a pre-net and pro-TV era. 33 years passed and Audi decided to recreate the ad to demonstrate the effectiveness of the quattro… v2.0 system; that's right, 100% electrified four-wheel drive.

Naturally, Audi resorted to e-tron , its first 100% electric series production model, and Mattias Ekström, world rallycross champion and two-time DTM champion.

The e-tron used, however, had to be changed. It gained an additional engine at the rear — two at the rear and one at the front — totaling 370 kW (503 hp) and 8920 Nm of torque… to the wheels (reading well) , changed the torque distribution management software, and gave it new 19″ wheels and tires with “nails”.

Changes needed to overcome the 85% (!) gradient of Mausefalle , the steepest section of the legendary downhill ski race, the Streif, in Switzerland.

Before the "conspiracy theories" emerge, the cable you see under the e-tron in the film appears only for safety reasons, not having served to pull the SUV — remember, 85% gradient… it's practically a wall.
