Honda Civic debuts nine-speed automatic transmission. But only Diesel

Anonim

With a new generation just over a year ago, the Honda Civic 1.6 i-DTEC it is getting ready to add one more novelty, to a set that had already debuted an entirely new platform, updated 1.6 i-DTEC engine, and an independent rear suspension — which, remember, the predecessor did not have.

Until now only available with manual transmission, the 1.6 i-DTEC variant of the Civic will soon have an automatic gearbox different from the one already existing in petrol Civics, which, let us remember, is a CVT, or continuous variation transmission.

On the contrary, the transmission chosen for Diesel is a solution with nine-speed torque converter , similar to the one used in the current 160 hp CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC, which stands out for being particularly compact.

Compact box… and versatile

In terms of use, this new transmission has a short first gear, as opposed to the high ones, which are much longer, seeking to guarantee not only low fuel consumption, but also high cruising speeds. Being equally capable of descending to a total of four relations, in a single kickdown, or raising a maximum of two relations.

It should also be remembered that this new transmission will only be available with the Diesel block of 120 hp and 300 Nm of torque, allowing the Civic to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 11s, but also to reach an announced top speed of 200 km/h.

As for consumption, Honda advances an average of 4.1 l/100 km , still according to the NEDC cycle, a figure that, while still being attractive, is 0.6 l/100 km higher than that announced for the version with manual transmission — 3.5 l/100 km.

Moreover, the manual version of the Civic Diesel is also announced faster 0.9s from 0 to 100 km/h, although both manage to comply with the most demanding NOx emission limits, according to the RDE cycle, without for this they have to resort to a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system with AdBlue.
