Already unavailable in Europe, now comes the turn of the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider to bid farewell to the North American market with the launch of a special and limited edition, the 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tribute.
The name couldn't be more evocative, being a… tribute to one of the most fantastical and gorgeous Alfa Romeo's ever, the 1967 33 Stradale, the road version of the racing Type 33.
The 33 Stradale was exotic and rare — allegedly only 18 units were produced — and beneath its luscious curves lurked an atmospheric V8 with just 2.0 liters of capacity, capable of delivering 230 hp (depends on the unit, as there were others reaching 245 hp) at a whopping 8800 rpm. Returning to its contemporary tribute, the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo will be produced in just — you guessed it — 33 units. They will be the last to arrive in the US and will mark the end of the commercialization of this very special model there.

It stands out from the rest of the 4C Spider for its exclusive three-layer Rosso Villa d’Este paintwork and grey-gold wheels — evoking the 33 Stradale — 18″ in diameter at the front and 19″ at the rear. Not even the carbon fiber of the monocoque escaped a specific treatment, showing a transparent red tone.
Inside, the seats are partially covered in suede (synthetic suede) and tobacco-toned leather. It's also impossible not to notice the various numbered plates that identify each of the 33 units. The special character of this edition is also seen in the offer of a book — numbered in correspondence with the car — designed by the Italian brand's Centro Stile, which mentions everything about the 4C, from its design to its production, and also adds the story on the 33 Stradale.
In this special series, many of the 4C Spider's optional equipment are now standard. From the Akrapovic's central exhaust, to the bi-xenon headlamps, to the carbon fiber rear wing, through to the offer of a cover for the roadster.
What hasn't changed about this Alfa Romeo 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo is its mechanics. It is the 1.75 l turbo with 240 hp and 350 Nm, coupled to a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox, which sends all the power of the four cylinders to the two rear drive wheels.
Being a special, limited edition and, moreover, also being the latest units of this Italian sports car, no wonder the asking price of 79 995 dollars (approx. 66 thousand euros), 12 thousand dollars more expensive than a “regular” 4C Spider.
