Were you paying almost 350 000 euros for this Honda NSX-R?

When we talk about the Type R acronym to a petrolhead, the probability is that models like the Integra Type R or the Civic Type R will immediately come to mind. But what many don't know is that Honda also “applied” the magic letter — R — to the NSX. In fact, he was the one who started the saga, in 1992.

That decision resulted in the NSX-R, an even more radical version of the mid-engined sports car that received the “blessing” of one of the greatest ever, Brazilian Ayrton Senna (who also participated in its development).

Compared to a “normal” Honda NSX, the NSX-R stood out for its use of carbon fiber and for dispensing with everything that was not strictly necessary, including power steering, sound system and air conditioning. A “diet” that saved around 100 kg.

Powering all this was the same 3.2 V6 VTEC (used in the upgraded NSX NA2) — mounted in the center rear position — naturally aspirated that sent power exclusively to the two rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.

On paper, this block produced “only” 294 hp, but there are many rumors to suggest that Honda gave it “a little more dust”.

By now you must have already realized that this Honda NSX-R is a special car and I haven't even told you that it was a model sold exclusively in Japan and of which only less than 500 copies were produced.

For all that, whenever an NSX-R appears for sale in the used market, it is news. And now, the portal Torque GT, a British specialist who recently put up for sale one of the 300 units of the Honda Civic Mugen RR (FD2), has just announced that it will "open" the auction of a model of the NA2 generation, which had a production even more exclusive: 140 units.

The Torque GT doesn't reveal the model year or the mileage, but in one of the interior images you can see that the odometer reads 50 920 km.

All that remains is to mention the price and it was not for nothing that I left it for the end. Torque GT has already made it known that the bid base is 346 000 euros. Yes that's right. And it is to be expected that it will approach the 400 000 barrier: in 2019 an NSX-R (also of the NA2 generation) was sold with just 560 km for 377 739 euros.
