500,000 dollars for a Toyota Supra A80?!… Madness or investment?

Anonim

We have no doubts that the Toyota Supra A80 is increasingly an icon of the automobile industry, but recently we have been witnessing an escalation in the prices of the (few) Japanese model units that come for sale, which has become relatively difficult to understand.

Two years ago we were surprised that a Supra A80 was sold for 65 thousand euros, about a year ago the approximately 106 thousand euros paid for a 1994 Supra already seemed a very high value and a few months ago, the 155 thousand euros requests for a Supra already seemed crazy.

However, so far no Supras have been offered for sale for as exorbitant a price as the $499,999 (about 451,000 euros) that the Supra we're talking about today costs.

Well maintained, but hasn't been standing still

Born in 1998, this unit appeared for sale on the website Carsforsale.com and, truth be told, it looks fresh from the stand, being painted in the exclusive Quicksilver color (which, according to the advertiser, was only available in the US in 1998).

Despite its immaculate appearance, don't think that this Toyota Supra A80 spent its entire life kept “under lock and key” inside a garage. According to the ad, the Supra has already covered 37,257 miles (about 60,000 kilometres), something that is confirmed by the images that illustrate the ad.

According to the advertiser, this Toyota Supra A80 is one of only 24 units painted in Quicksilver color and with a six-speed manual transmission sold in the USA.

In addition to this, the seller also claims that all panels of this Supra are original, which makes the car even more exclusive. Underneath the bonnet is, as you'd expect, the legendary 2JZ-GTE.

Given all the arguments presented by the seller, a question arises: will this Toyota Supra justify the value that is asked for it? Give us your opinion.
