Introduced about three years ago — at the Geneva Motor Show — the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé 4 Doors was unveiled with a striking aesthetic and promising more space and more versatility. Now, it has just undergone the first update.

From an aesthetic point of view, there are no changes to register, with the news being more style options (colors and rims, for example) and the introduction of new components.

Highlight to the fact that the Panamericana grille — increasingly characteristic of models with the AMG signature — and the huge air intakes of the front bumper are now available on models with six-cylinder engines, the AMG GT 43 and AMG GT 53 .

These versions can also be equipped with the optional AMG Night Package II pack, which “offers” a dark finish to all components that appear as standard in chrome, including the iconic three-pointed star of the brand and the model name .

This pack can also be combined with the exclusive Carbon Pack, which reinforces the aggressiveness of the model with carbon fiber elements.

Also optional are the new 20” and 21” wheels with 10 spokes and 5 spokes respectively, and three new body colors: Starling Blue Metallic, Starling Blue Magno and Cashmere White Magno.

On the outside, there is also the fact that the brake calipers of the six-cylinder versions can have a red finish.

Advanced for the cabin, the new AMG Performance multifunction steering wheel with haptic controls is just visible, although there are new decorations for the seats and for the panels of the doors and the dashboard. But the biggest highlight is even the possibility of an extra seat in the rear seat, which increases the capacity of this saloon from four to five occupants.

Two engines... for now

When it hits the market in August, the new Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé 4 Doors will be available in two versions, both equipped with a 3.0-litre capacity in-line six-cylinder gasoline engine.

The AMG GT 43 variant delivers 367 hp and 500 Nm and is associated with an AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G nine-speed automatic transmission and a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. Thanks to this configuration, this AMG GT accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9s and has a limited top speed of 270 km/h.

On the other hand, the AMG GT 53 version — which shares the same transmission and the same traction system — produces 435 hp and 520 Nm, figures that allow it to carry out the acceleration exercise from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5s, with the top speed being limited to 285 km/h.

Both versions are equipped with a 48V starter/generator which adds an extra 22hp in certain driving contexts.

Also the AMG Ride Control + suspension saw improved performance. It is true that it continues to be based on a multi-chamber air suspension system, but it is now combined with an adjustable and electronically controlled damping.

This damping system is completely new and features two pressure-limiting valves, located outside the damper, which allow the damping force to be adjusted even more precisely, according to the floor and driving mode.

Thanks to this, it is possible to constantly adjust the damping force of each wheel so that the approach to each situation is always the best.

When arrives?

As mentioned above, it is known that the commercial debut of these two versions is scheduled for August, but Mercedes-AMG has not yet confirmed the prices for our country or provided any information about the versions equipped with a V8 engine, which will be presented later .
