Cold Start. How many horsepower would the Gemera 3-cylinder have if it didn't have turbos?

Tiny Friendly Giant (TFG) or the Friendly Little Giant, is the (real) name of the combustion engine of the Koenigsegg Gemera . Why this name? With just three cylinders in line and 2.0 l of capacity, it is capable of delivering an impressive 600 hp at 7500 rpm and 600 Nm between 2000 rpm and 7000 rpm!

There are 300 hp per liter and 300 Nm per liter! According to the brand it is “the most powerful engine by cylinder and volume so far”. Out of curiosity, the three cylinders closest in performance to the TFG is the 1.6 of the new Toyota GR Yaris, but this one stays for a “modest” 161 hp/l…

The TFG still stands out for being the first four-stroke engine without a camshaft, but those responsible for these giant numbers are, of course, the two turbos that equip it. And now we can see this, as it was Christian von Koenigsegg himself who came up with (estimated) numbers for the TFG if it were naturally aspirated.

While they are obviously more modest, they are no less impressive: 300 hp and 250 Nm (!), that is, 150 hp/l — atmospheric, with better specific performance, only the new and exotic V12 from Aston Martin Valkyrie and T.50 from Gordon Murray.
