This time it's not the result of an early leak. The new BMW Concept 8 Series, from which a production model with the same name will be born, was officially unveiled today at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. BMW provided dozens of images and a video.
As we have already mentioned, the Bavarian manufacturer's new machine will indirectly replace the BMW 6 Series – more variants of this model will be presented later. The top number that identifies the model also corresponds to a higher placement.

BMW Concept 8 Series
The BMW Concept 8 Series, despite its more fluid and curvy lines, is easily identifiable as a BMW. There was room for experimentation, especially in defining the elements that identify the brand. Double rim case, which takes on new contours and finishes. Due to their size and filling, they give the Series 8 the necessary dose of aggressiveness.
The flanks and ends are modeled in a very expressive way, much more than what has been usual in more recent models, which have been guided by a conservative approach. Do I dare to mention that, for a moment, it brought to mind the products of the era of the ever-controversial Chris Bangle?
The interior also marks some distance from current BMW models. This one is more minimalist and has a more fluid design, especially in the transition to the doors. And, perhaps answering to many criticisms, the central screen appears better integrated in the dashboard. The leather-covered carbon fiber seats stand out.
And the production model?
This one should arrive next year and it shouldn't stray too far from the concept we are now seeing. Predictably, it will use the CLAR platform – the same that equips the Series 7 and Series 5 – and will inherit their engines. According to some rumors, a V12 could be in the brand's plans.
For performance fans, an M version is almost certain. The future M8 will share the V8 engine with the new M5, but it is speculated that an even more muscular version. Let's not forget that the new M5 will come with 600 horsepower!
