First images of the new BMW Z4 Concept revealed

After yesterday we published here a partial image with the shapes of the new BMW Z4 Concept, today, as scheduled, BMW revealed the first official images of this prototype.

It is from the lines of this prototype, which will be highlighted at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance (USA), on August 20, that the successor to the BMW Z4 will be born – a model that the Bavarian brand discontinued at the end of the year past.

According to some rumors, this new roadster (which will be launched as early as 2018) may come to be called the Z5, in order to enhance the evolution compared to its predecessor and, not least, help the model's positioning in the manufacturer's range of Munich. The Z4 name may not stay in the drawer and it is possible that it will be used in a coupé version.

As for technical details, there is still no official confirmation. Even so, we replicate the information we made available yesterday: the adoption of gasoline engines with powers between 200 hp (2.0 liters) and 335 hp (3.0 liters bi-turbo), with manual or automatic transmission (optional) is already taken for granted.

Inside, it's worth noting the focus that BMW has given to the driver's seat. All instrumentation is oriented towards the driver and the difference in finishing (bicolor) further helps to separate the passenger from the area reserved for the driver. Or if roadsters weren't true drivers cars…
