Just last month, Jaguar Land Rover delivered 29 patents with names of new models (others not so much…).

Patent registration is a very common procedure in the automobile industry. In most cases, this is just a precautionary measure to safeguard a possible use of the name in the more distant future. In other cases, patent registration may even mean that a new model is on the way.

In this regard, Jaguar Land Rover has attracted attention due to several patents recently registered. Among them, there are some names that have already been used previously, namely the XJS , the grand tourer (below) that abandoned production lines more than two decades ago, or the Range Rover Classic , currently used to name the first generation of the brand's iconic model.

In the list of patents we also find the names Westminster, Freestyle, Landy, Landmark, Sawtooth, P-Type, T-Type, Stormer, C-XE, iXE, diXE, XEdi, XEi, CXF and CXJ.

If in the case of XE variants, the British brand may be considering hybrid versions, 100% electric, or two-door coupé of the current Jaguar XE, names such as P-Type or T-Type may suggest the development of new sports cars. Let the speculation begin…
