The Sketch Monkey, named Marouane, is a designer converted to youtuber, where we can find in many of his videos more or less extensive redesigns of multiple models. And there were many requests to “save” the Fiat Multipla.
A master challenge, by the way. At the beginning of the video, he starts by making a small analysis of the model, which he considers “so ugly that it becomes cool“. He highlights what he doesn't like, especially the predominance of round elements and smooth shapes in the model. However, he decided to keep one of the characteristics that most distinguish the design of the Multipla, the step between the bonnet and cabin volume and the set of optics at the base of the model.
His exercise involves giving the Multipla design greater definition, with better defined edges, with lighter/shadow areas, while at the same time getting rid of circular elements, exchanging them for rectangular ones.

To complete the set, it adds a set of wheels taken from a Fiat 500, for a more contemporary and sophisticated look. Was it successful?
The video, aimed more at the design community, with the author of the video referring, above all, to the tools and techniques used in Photoshop to elaborate this redesign. The transformation process is nonetheless very interesting to see, but if you want to see the final result, jump closer to the end of the video.
