Renovated Mercedes-Benz A-Class lets itself be "caught" with little camouflage

The spy photos, exclusively for Razão Automóvel, show two test prototypes of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class W177 , both plug-in hybrids.

The camouflage on both is limited only to the front and rear, precisely where we should identify visual differences for the Class A currently on sale.

Grille, bumpers and (most likely) headlamps will be restyled at the front, while at the rear, the rear optics and lower part of the bumpers will receive modifications.

Also, note that these two prototypes, being plug-in hybrids, do not show visible exhaust outlets — exhaust is hidden behind the bumper — as does the At 250 and currently on sale, although, truth be told, these are merely decorative.

Engines

In terms of engines, most of them should be transferred from the current model. Renault's diesel engines are no longer part of the A-Class — replaced by the 2.0 l OM654q in 2020 — but rumors are now circulating that the gasoline 1.33 Turbo, developed halfway between Daimler and the Renault Nissan Alliance Mitsubishi, could also make room for a new engine.

This new gasoline engine will come from a partnership with the Chinese Geely, which will produce it in China — the Geely Holding Group has a 9.7% stake in Daimler — but the development of the new engine will be in charge, mainly, of Mercedes -Benz.

However, the introduction of this new engine in the updated Mercedes-Benz A-Class is information that still lacks official confirmation.
