Californian company Superperformance took advantage of the SEMA to present its latest creation, the “Future GT Forty”. Inspired by Ford GT40 This original design combines the look of the car that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans 50 years ago with modern mechanics, all to honor not only the victory in the mythical endurance race but also the current Ford GT that runs in the European Le Mans Series.
The project starts from a Superperformance GT40 Mk1, a replica of the Ford GT40 Mk1 created by the American company that consists of an exact recreation of the bodywork (so exact that two thirds of the parts used in the replica are interchangeable with the original car).
However, under the bonnet the similarities between the original and the replica disappear because instead of the V8 that was used by the Ford GT40 Mk1 Superperformance applied to this unique example an Ecoboost V6 of the current Ford GT.
Thus, the Future GT Forty, as it was called by its creators, has a modern 3.5 l V6 to which Superperformance applied two turbochargers from Honeywell Garrett, producing about 657 hp. Completing the mechanical changes, the California company teamed up with Magnaflow and created a customized exhaust system.
The best Ford GT40 replica?
Complementing the mechanical changes, Superperformance installed in the Future GT Forty an air suspension by Ridetech and special wheels by HRE.
On the outside, despite the look of the GT40 Mk1, the colors chosen pay homage to the current Ford GT that run in the European Le Mans Series, and to complete the visual package we find an aerodynamic kit from APR Performance that offers the model a huge rear wing and carbon fiber front deflectors.

The model is advertised by Superperformance as the best GT40 replica on the market, the only one that uses original Ford GT40 serial numbers.
Anyone who wants to buy it can order it directly from Superperformance, however, the company did not reveal the price of this one-off, but taking into account that the replica of a Superperformance Shelby Coupé costs around 100,000 euros it is not expect this GT40 to be “cheap”.
