Electric Skoda on the way. Five EV models until 2025

Skoda announced that it will start production of 100% electric production vehicles at its plant in the Czech Republic as early as 2020. A year earlier it will also start production of electric components for plug-in hybrid models.

The models will be manufactured in the same factory where the most important models are produced, in the Czech Republic, in keeping with tradition.

The first Skoda PHEV will be Superb and Kodiaq. Both will resort to a 1.4 liter turbo engine combined with an 85 kW electric motor , generating a combined power of 215 hp . Are these numbers familiar to you? Well then, it will be the same system used by the Volkswagen Passat GTE.

In 2020 the brand will be able to put the first electric Skoda on the market. Its first 100% electric vehicle was previewed by the Vision E concept. It will be the Volkswagen group's third EV model based on the MEB platform, exclusively for electric models.

The first model with hybrid technology presented by the brand was the Vision S. The concept unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2016, served as the basis for the production of the Kodiaq SUV. The Skoda Vision S advertised 7.4 seconds to reach 100 km/h, and a top speed of 200 km/h. The consumption announced by the brand was 1.9 l/100km and had autonomy in 100% electric mode of 50 km.

This could be the most expensive Skoda ever, as well as the most powerful, if the 300 hp is confirmed. It will be an SUV positioned between Kodiaq and Karoq.

In 2025, the brand's VE (electric vehicles) portfolio should increase with two more models. Another compact SUV and a sporty one, the latter possibly a successor to the classic 110R. Remember? Me either…
