The power war we have witnessed this century seems to have no end. Hot hatches have already surpassed the 300 hp barrier and are now heading towards 400 hp, executive saloons and family vans have already surpassed 600, muscle cars with 700, super and hyper-sports above 1000 can almost be considered vulgar. But the Devel Sixteen promises to put the gauge above, much higher.
At the Dubai Motor Show, Devel took the original Sixteen prototype and two new prototypes, clearly at a more advanced stage of development, noting the substantially altered design. In addition to the Sixteen, Devel also took to the salon the Sixty, which couldn't be more different, a 6×6 vehicle that seems to have come out of an apocalyptic science fiction movie.
Chiron's 1500 hp is for boys
But the star was definitely Sixteen. If you think the Bugatti Chiron's 1500 hp sounds like a lot, what about the Devel Sixteen? Access version starts at 2000 hp! But it doesn't stop there, as the V8 that equips it has a second version with 3000 hp — twice the power of the Chiron. These two proposals are the “civilized” models for use on the road.5000 hp
For circuit, Devel has something much more special. Precisely what it's been promising ever since we first laid eyes on Sixteen four years ago. I'm referring, of course, to the monstrous V16 with 12 300 cm3 — yes, 12.3 liters of capacity — with four turbos, capable of delivering a few absurd 5000 hp!
Unrealistic? Fanciful? Two years ago, a test bench test of a prototype of this thruster was revealed, and it reached more than 4500 hp. The V16 is of American origin, which may explain the solutions employed, such as a single camshaft and only two valves per cylinder.
The car, on the other hand, is being developed in Italy by MAT (Manifattura Automobili Torino), a company also associated with the development of the SGC003 or the new Apollo Intensa Emozione.
