After a few weeks ago we revealed the first images of the new Citroën C4 (and the ë-C4, the electric variant), today we bring you all the news about the familiar French.

Intended to replace the C4 Cactus, the new C4 shares with it the crossover look but loses the “Cactus” in the name.

Also in the aesthetics chapter, Citroën's new C-segment adopts the brand's new design language, with a “V” front luminous signature, a solution used by the CXPerience Concept, Ami One Concept and 19_19 Concept prototypes and by the revised C3.

With 4360 mm in length, 2670 mm of wheelbase, 1800 mm in width and 1525 mm in height, the new C4 presents itself as a kind of “mix” between the SUV/crossover concept and the coupé.

Living up to the brand's scrolls, the new Citroën C4 is strongly committed to comfort. For that, it counts with the “Progressive Hydraulic Cushions” (progressive hydraulic stops) and with Advanced Comfort seats.

As for the interior, the lines are minimalist and the focus on technology is clear, with two points that stand out: the ultra-slim 10’’ central screen without borders and the Smart Pad Support.

This unique retractable support system is integrated into the dashboard and allows the passenger (the “hang”) to attach a tablet to the dashboard.

Also in the technological bet chapter, the new Citroën C4 has, for example, a wireless smartphone charger, with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and four USB ports, two at the front and two at the back, two of which are USB C.

Finally, with regard to space, the C4 has a luggage compartment with a capacity of 380 liters (and double floor) and makes use of the 2670 mm of wheelbase to ensure good levels of living space.

Combustion Engines

As we've already told you, the range of the new Citroën C4 is made up of electric, diesel and petrol versions.

Among the gasoline engines, there are four options: PureTech 100 and PureTech 130 with 100 and 130 hp respectively and six-speed manual transmission and PureTech 130 and PureTech 155 with 130 and 155 hp and eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Diesel offer is based on the BlueHDi 110 and BlueHDi 130 with 110 and 130 hp respectively. The first is associated with a six-speed manual gearbox, while the second has an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Finally, it's time to tell you about the Citroën ë-C4, the electric version of Citroën's new C-segment and the one about which there is more information.

With a 136 hp (100 kW) and 260 Nm electric motor powered by a 50 kWh battery, the new ë-C4 has 350 km of autonomy (WLTP cycle).

Equipped with three driving modes (Eco, Normal and Sport), it is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 150 km/h and 100 km/h in 9.7s (in Sport mode).

With regard to loading times, they are as follows:

  • In a 100 kW public payphone: it takes up to 80% in 30 minutes (you get 10 km of autonomy per minute);
  • On a 32 A Wallbox: takes between 5 hours (in a three-phase system with the optional 11 kW charger) and 7:30 am (single-phase system).
  • In a domestic outlet: it takes between 15 hours (in a 16 A reinforced outlet of the Green’up Legrand type) and more than 24 hours (normal outlet).

In addition to the strong investment in in-flight entertainment technology, the new Citroën C4 also invests heavily in safety systems and driving assistance, with 20 systems of this type.

In the field of safety, there are systems such as Active Safety Brake, collision and post-collision risk alert, Safety Brake, blind spot surveillance system, active alert of involuntary crossing of the lane, adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, among many others.

To ensure a greater level of on-board comfort, the C4 has systems such as hands-free access and starting, color head-up display, electric parking brake, side parking aid, reversing camera or assistance with uphill starts.

When arrives?

With the start of orders scheduled for the summer, the first units of the new Citroën C4 should arrive in Portugal in December, their prices not yet being known.
