This is the new Suzuki Swift Sport

A competent and light chassis, supported by a live engine. Everything has to go right, no? This is the cover letter for the third generation of the Suzuki Swift Sport.

A model that now presents itself with a sportier driving position, a more aggressive styling and a very appetizing weight-to-torque ratio.

Starting with the engine, the unit that equips this Suzuki Swift Sport is the new 1.4 BOOSTERJET , with 230Nm of torque and 140 hp of power. It might not sound like much, but with only 970 kg of weight to move, this model has a weight-to-torque ratio of approximately 4.2 kg/Nm – let's face it, it's a pretty interesting number.

The direct fuel injection system features seven-hole injector nozzles, allowing for increased fuel pressure and optimized fuel injection, resulting in greater engine power and less emissions.

Optimized manual box

To achieve a shorter stroke and more agile passages improvements were introduced to the 6-speed manual gearbox that fitted the previous generation Swift Sport. Actuation force has been adjusted to improve the smoothness of passages and increase driver feedback, complemented by technical improvements that increase rigidity and the feel of a more direct passage.

New “HEARTECT” platform

The new Swift Sport was developed on the “HEARTECT” platform, the new generation of Suzuki platform that is lighter and with greater rigidity.

A comprehensive overhaul resulted in the replacement of the previous platform's segmented frame with a continuous frame that increases the rigidity of the entire structure. Overall body rigidity is further improved with an increase in weld points, improving linearity and steering control.

In addition to the “HEARTECT” platform, the detailed optimization of the interior, seats and other components resulted in a total unladen weight and occupants of just 970kg.

Specific suspensions

As Suzuki Swift Sport is the sportiest model in the Japanese manufacturer's range, there was important work by the brand's engineers in fine-tuning these components.

Like its predecessor, the new Swift Sport uses Monroe shock absorbers at the front. To improve rolling stability, the thickness of the stabilizer bars was increased with the addition of Teflon in the stabilizer assembly. The wheel hub and wheel bearings were made in one piece and the width between the bearings was expanded.

The rear suspension also deserved attention. The neck was designed and developed exclusively for the new Suzuki Swift Sport. The model's rigidity has been improved by 1.4 times compared to its predecessor and the rigidity is three times greater under load. Torsional stiffness of the torsion bar has been adjusted to provide optimal rolling stiffness. Also in the past, the brand resorted to Monroe shock absorbers.

These developments provided, according to the brand, an additional degree of rigidity without excessively increasing the spring speed or the front stabilizer, maintaining the smooth movement in contact of the tire with the road.
