THE Honda wants to join the various brands that have already abandoned diesel engines in Europe. According to the Japanese brand's plan, the idea is to gradually remove all Diesel models from its range to speed up the electrification process of its models in the European market.

Honda had already announced that by 2025 it intends to have two-thirds of its European range electrified. Before that, as of 2021, Honda wants no model of the brand sold in Europe to use diesel engines.

According to Dave Hodgetts, director of management at Honda in the United Kingdom, the plan is that "with each model change, we will stop making diesel engines available in the next generation". The date announced by Honda for the abandonment of Diesels coincides with the expected arrival date for the new generation Honda Civic.
