Toyota Motor Europe Research and Development Vice President Gerald Killmann commented:

“We would like to express our thanks to the ARB Associação Association for having granted the Toyota Mirai this award. If we want the cars of the future to be safe and with environmentally friendly technologies, we have to guarantee the supply of the energy source to power them. At Toyota, we believe that the various technologies will coexist, from electric cars, hybrids or the most innovative technology like fuel cell cars. The new Toyota Mirai reflects Toyota's vision for a society based on sustainable mobility, which allows for a new form of mobility, with all the comfort and safety and in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way”.

Toyota Frey Austria CEO Dr. Friedrich Frey added: “We hope that in the next few years, hydrogen filling stations will be available in Austria so that fuel cell cars can thrive.” In 1999, the first Toyota Prius was awarded the Environmental Award by ARBÖ for its pioneering hybrid technology, followed by the innovative Prius Hybrid Plug-in in 2012.
