THE Mercedes-AMG C63 is a unique creature in its segment. Unlike its rivals, which come with six-cylinder engines — in-line and V — the C63 has remained resolutely associated with a charismatic V8.
Although in this generation it is the Smallest V8 ever to equip it , with just 4.0 liters, but with a big lung, thanks to the addition of two turbochargers, capable of delivering up to 510 hp in the C63S, and 700 Nm. captivating… But like all good stories, this one has already announced its ending.

Tobias Moers, the CEO of Mercedes-AMG, speaking to the Australian Car Advice during the New York Motor Show, said that the C63, as we know it, will end. Blame it on the increasingly restrictive levels of emissions, which are also pushing the brand quickly towards electrification.
I think the formula is perfect for now, but we will definitely have to look closely at viable alternatives because we have to be creative and I'm chasing performance and that's not strictly related to the number of cylinders.
If we intelligently apply hybridization or electrification to a car that is capable of always having it “on”, regardless of the battery and the rest of the system, then it will be amazing what we can get out of it.
Which means the next generation Mercedes-AMG C63 will be a hybrid — that's for sure.

Moers' statements indicate that the next Mercedes-AMG C63 will be quite different from the current one. Not only because of its hybrid powertrain, but also the very likely end of rear-wheel drive, adopting all-wheel drive. And the rumbling, expectable sound of an AMG?
