The image released allows us to see the front of what will be, it seems, of the new M4 G82. The immense kidneys remain, of course, but are now filled with horizontal blades, unlike the hexagonal pattern of the rest of the Series 4 G22:

First, the engine. This will remain a twin turbo in-line six-cylinder, but the S55 will see its place taken by the new S58, debuted by the X3 M and X4 M. No power differences are foreseen for the two SUVs: 480 hp and 510 hp for Competitions.
In addition to the new engine, the big news is the introduction of all-wheel drive, both for the M4 G82 and for the M3 G80, associated with an eight-speed automatic transmission. For those who have just shed a tear on hearing this, don't despair… there will still be a rear-wheel drive and manual gearbox version, which for the moment are known as Pure.
Everything indicates that the GTS versions will disappear from the catalog to give way, somewhat to the image of the BMW M2, to CS versions and the return of the legendary CSL acronym — the BMW M3 CSL E46 is still for many the best M3 ever.
When arrives?
The new BMW M4 G82 (and also the M3 G80) will be known later this year, with the month of September being advanced for its unveiling. However, its commercialization should only take place in 2021.
