A Porsche 911 with a Formula 1 engine? That's right...

Did you already know this Mclaren Porsche 911 equipped with a Formula 1 engine? We do not. It was through Lehrenkrauscafe – a community of Porsche lovers on Facebook – that we became aware of the existence of this true unicorn.

The model you see in the screenshots may look like a regular 911, but it's anything but. In place of the typical flat-six (still air-cooled) engine is a 1.5 liter TAG V6 Turbo engine, just like the one Mclaren used in the 1980s.

The project to build this model was financed by TAG itself. Before the most staunch advocates of Porsche DNA say “heresy!”, it is worth remembering that these engines were built by Porsche itself under a partnership between Mclaren and the Stuttgart-based construction company. So it's 100% Porsche.

This V6 engine – code-named TTE P01 – followed the tradition of the Formula 1 engines of the time: small displacement and XXL turbos. With a maximum pressure of 4.0 bar, the TAG-Porsche engines developed around 650hp of maximum power – reaching 850hp in «qualification» mode. Where can we order one?
