In addition to the design, the main highlight of the Lexus LC500h is the Multi Stage Hybrid system developed by the brand – specifically for high performance vehicles.

Razão Automóvel spoke with one of Lexus' managers, Stefan Ramaekers, who exclusively explained to us all the details of this technology that combines: two electric motors (one to charge the batteries and the other to assist the thermal unit); a 3.5 V6 engine; and an e-CVT transmission supported by a 4-speed automatic transmission – all assembled in sequence.

The e-CVT gears the 4 automatic gearbox gears for a total of 10 gears (which can be selected manually using shift paddles on the steering wheel). According to Stefan Ramaekers, the secret of Multi Stage Hybrid technology is in the electronic control of the system, the “brain” that manages to put all these systems to work in unison – the result of more than two decades of development of hybrid solutions.

There are three driving modes available: eco, Sport and Sport+. Each of them alters the behavior and character of mechanics, giving priority to the driver's needs (economy or performance). Acceleration from 0 to 100km/h is done in less than 5 seconds, thanks to the sum of the heat engine's 295hp and 348Nm with the electric motor's 60hp – generating a combined power of 354hp.

This luxury hybrid is the brand's first model to benefit from the new platform that will serve as the basis for future rear-wheel drive models in the Lexus range.
